I'm keeping them all in my prayers until we've heard from them all and know they're ok.

I know I'm not as new as the others but I live in yorktown Va. and we had just got our electricity back on saturday evening. I'm sure others haven't replied is because of the power issue so many without electricity. My area looked like a war zone and this is no joke. People flooding the gas stations, grocery stores trying to replemish their shelves, traffic lights out with many accidents. Its a mess here. I was just in Va beach my mom & brother live there no serious damage done nothing but down branches. My husbands family live about 5 or 6 blocks from the ocean front and they were okay same thing down trees, branches, and telephone wires. Some were hard hit others were fine. Its going to take a while before everything is up and back to normal.

Doesn't Helen live near DT? He was without electricity for a long time-could have been he just got it back today.(i'm not going back to WW to look). If so she may still be without power.

Meantime we are still worrying about and praying for those we have no news on.

I have often wondered about one of the regular posters dying either from a weather event or non-weather. There really might be no way to know other than their absence as many may be single and I doubt very many would have family members or close friends that would know about the weather boards or be able to come on here and tell us of their demise. Are you aware of anyone passing away prior to the storm, I gather there is some concern regarding the storm. I was unable to post since 1:30am Friday morning. Thanks

That's why we implemented a check in policy weather53 - you send us an alternative check in method such as family email or telephone number or etc and that way we can contact folks if we haven't heard from them in 48 hours or longer. With a board like this - I would like to see more members participate - is kinda scarey knowing we can't find out about our fellow members.

So if anyone is interested in the check in policy - send me a PM and i'll give you instructions.

Do we have phone numbers (yes, I know phone might not be working yet either) for them or at least alternative phone numbers to reach relatives, co-workers, or evacuation points?

Edit -- Oops, I missed page two. Someone else already asked.

I'm new here, and only know a few people from other forums. I hope you hear from your friends soon. I'm sure they are fine; probably suffering from S2K withdrawals! My guess is they will have LOTS of interesting stories to tell when they can get back on-line.
