Interesting. I wonder if the models are beginning to pick up on the deformation zone. Wherever that sets up someone is going to get buried.

The NAM is turning the system to the northeast much quicker than the global models resulting in a much further west path from around Alpine to Wichita Falls. Hopefully it's out to lunch. It clearly doesn't have any support from the globals.

Looks like the Euro is going to stay put with it's northern and western path vs the GFS/Can/JMA bunch

When you compare it to last night's 0z run it's actually a bit further east.

I missed this on the 0z CMC earlier but the New Years storm is back... it's mostly a very cold rain in DFW(opening 2016 with a rain event right off the bat), but does show frozen precip on the backside:

Yeah the trend over the days has been south and east. I'm not worried about the euro yet, it's just the further west of the bunch but not to the point it's detrimental. It's not that far off

I was checking source regions and following guidance our 1040+ HP building south is actually originating from North Central Canada and it is cold up there. Probably some of the coldest right now on the continent. The areal coverage is expansive. Not the coldest air mass I've seen but pretty respectable for this system to use.

First of all, Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to Everyone!!! Secondly, the Japanese model gives us the dream sequence of the coastal low drawing in moisture and cold air on top of it....FWIW....and the Canadian gives me and Porta snow!!!! We can hope and dream of things to come!!! :cold: :cold: :cold: :froze:

I kind of have the feeling this is going to be the year of the "Cold Rain" (Worst weather possible IMO) for the DFW Metro and points east. Unfortunately.

Models don't seem any more clear than a day ago. Still looks like 12/24/09 with more moisture available. I got some light snow from that in Lindale. Someone NW of the surface low will get 20" of snow and some NE of it will get 10" of rain.

Merry Christmas to all my fellow Storm2K'ers. Cant wait to see what this latest storm produces. The Abilene area seems to be in a good zone for heavy snow :D

I am not a meteorologist. Anything posted by me should not be taken as an official forecast. Get your information from respected sources such as NWS and NOAA. I get my weather information the same way Hank Hill does ..... I look out the window and say ... "YUP".

Merry Christmas fellow Weather lovers! Question, im looking at the canadian, how does it not show snow closer to the coast then its maps are showing. That thing really digs in deep. Maybe its not seeing enough cold air if it were to dig that far.

This will be one storm to remember, i hope you guys get what youre asking for.
