Will there be another major hurricane this season?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Will there be another major hurricane this season?

#1 Postby summerwx » Sat Sep 20, 2003 10:20 pm

What do you think? After hurricane Fabian and Isabel, will there be a third intense hurricane this season, as William Gray believes?

If so, when do you expect it to occur; and where?

I am gonna say the next major hurricane {and probably final} will be Mindy..

Mindy will form in the far Eastern Carribean by the Islands where it borders with the Atlantic.. She will be a late October storm..

She will then make landfall on the SE Coast {somewhere between FLA-SC} with winds of 115 mph.

I hope I'm dead wrong.. but you asked for my opinion and now you got it..

All odds point at a October Major Hurricane since every year this decade so far has produced a category 3 in October.

2000 - Keith (officially became a MH in October)
2001 - Iris
2001- Michelle (officially became a MH in November)
2002 - Lili (officially became a MH in October)

We may get another major hurricance.. but I'm kinda doubting it. IF it were to happen I'd look for it to form in the Western Carribean (haven't seen many storm form in the Eastern Carib, and CV season is about over) and then I'd look for it to move in a parabolic fashion into NW Florida or Alabama.. maybe near Pensacola..

Yes, one more major cane sounds about right. Probably SW Caribbean in early October.

I think we will have at least one more major hurricane. I think it will be one that forms in the carribean and heads into the Gulf of Mexico. I too believe it will be in October. But knowing that any HC that enters the Gulf is basically "land-locked", I hope I am 100% wrong !

Rainydaze, I hope you are wrong, too! Although we have been lucky in SW FL. our other GOM neighbors have not been so fortunate.

I do, however, believe that we will have several more hurricanes- at least one of which will be a "major". Hopefully, the latter will be a fish!

...there always seem to be a late season major atorm in the Carribbean or BOC area. This season really has me spooked, so I'll go for one more for the EC from the Carib area, and another from the BOC to the central Gulf area. As always, hope I'm wrong!!

NCbird: Glad to see you back on line. Pebbles kept us on pins and needles when she couldn't reach you. I assume you survived realtively unscathed?

Well if another major hurricane forms!

#14 Postby Guest » Sun Sep 21, 2003 8:09 pm

it will either be in the next week of sept. or october. I wonder will it might form seeing the CV season is almost over.....Isabel caused a lot of damage for a cat. 2 storm. The hard hit places of N/C and Virginia ect....have a long ways to go before their back to normal. I thank those Utility workers who came from all over to help out with getting everyones power on. Its nice to see people helping others......

EEK! That's a bit too close to home for me, especially since we're to the east of that.

I'm sorta hoping for one of those major canes that wanders around the ocean for a while. Interesting to watch, but no threat to anyone.

I say "NO" to more major hurricanes this season. We have had enough!
