Texas Winter 2015-2016

Well, I see that the 12Z EC has Houston down to the lower 30s Monday and again late next week, but probably above freezing over the next 10 days. No significant cold for Texas in the Euro.

18Z Euro is in agreement with the EC in forecasting no freeze for Houston through 16 days. Possibly northern Harris County would see below freezing Monday and around the 19th per the GFS.

Canadian indicates a light freeze Monday then teens next weekend for Houston. Ha! We'll see about that.

None of the models is indicating any significant snow for Texas through 10 days.

And over this away models are showing the gulf coast back into the 60's for a few days here and there over the next two weeks. Doesn't even look like anyone down south will get a hard freeze by end of the month, much less more than a couple of very light freezes. Starting to get the feeling this much hyped winter may turn out to be nothing but a massive bust.

The flurries didn't materialize this morning, and precip is now out on Monday. Halfway through without a hint of sleet or snow, I'm ready to say...WINTER CANCEL!

Seems like everything interesting fades as it gets closer in time... hard to believe such a great pattern we have won't produce sooner or later though.

LOL GFS is awfully zonal next week... even that big snowstorm to the east of here the Euro had last night has gone poof today.

Nothing I want and love more than a cold and snowy/icy winter, even living in southern LA. But I'm about to be with you and ready to move along. At the very least will make the fishing and golf much better.

All joking aside, I'm thankful for the hard freezes here lately, that's finished off the bug problem outside.

I've always been like you, just voice it more in the the talkin tropics threads since that affects me more.

As far as mosquitoes go, just killed a couple in the house tonight. Hasnt even been cold enough here to slow them down, especially with days like today with rain and upper 60's.

Winter didn't arrive last year until after Feb 20th. Declaring it over on January 9th is silly .


On another note the upgrade is tonight for Storm2k, remember to post feedback or any problems you may encounter. Hopefully you won't as we've been testing it for awhile now.

Of course, I'm joking about winter being over. I think Texas will see its share of snow later this month and in February. Good pattern for snow, we just need colder air to come south. Nothing in the next week or so, however.

Yeah, the GFS right now even as soon as 144 hrs out shows little consistency from to run. Take a look at the 500mb charts between the 0z rolling out now and the 12z from earlier today. Very little agreement. But hey, if you guys want to cancel winter based on that kind of computer model ... you go ahead. You'll be like the guy who wants a stable marriage and makes Lindsay Lohan his wife.

All the models are having issues right now, changes are coming. Once H500 gets re-settled, and if the block indeed sets up in the north Atlantic, then things will hopefully be more consistent.

My hopes have been accomplished - DEAD BUGS. Now my only other objective is to get Porta some POWDER. He's WAY PAST DUE for a winter wonderland.
