The Bahamian government, with the help from the other other nations, including the U.S. which was indirectly affected by the storm, should submit the official requests to the WMO to have Joaquin's name retired imo!! Joaquin was an absolute monster, a devastating killer tropical cyclone and a storm for the history books for certain!!!

I will always remember this killer storm not only for the tragedy he bought to the ill-fated El Faro cargo ship, which was based here in Jacksonville, and the devastation to the Bahamas for 2 days. However, for little did I would realize I became a blind squirrel who found a nut for once, got lucky and stuck my neck out on this forum to be the first to foresee development of this storm from its origin of an upper level Low.

It looks like the ship El Faro was found down at 15,000 feet.

Well, for the families of the 33 crew members of the El Faro, although this news never will ease the grief and pain of losing their loved ones, at least they can have some bit of closure with this tragedy with the Navy finding the ship wreckage. Also, the Navy will hopefully be able to locate the recorder box to help in the NTSB investigation and shed more detail as to what happened in those horrific final hours before the ship sunk while being in the northwestern edge of the eyewall of Joaquin.

Well, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that the extreme conditions and the tremendous storm surge in Joaquin lead to the cause to the sinking of the El Faro. Apparently, the NTSB will finish their investigation without having the data recorder as the search for that has ended.
