This is one reason I chose Santa Fe for our spring break trip. At least some snow might still be around town and maybe even a March snow could fall while visiting. Certainly the higher elevations will still have some snow. Either way seeing some is possible. Got to get my snow fix!!!! :grr: :grr: :grr:

It is why i am on my way up to the NM mountains now.

Don't lose hope yet. I just talked to my long-range co-worker and he said we could see one more threat of a winter storm or cold temperatures across the state during the next 3 weeks or so once the flow pattern finally slows down some and the MJO moves into the favorable phases for us. I'm thinking the time frame for this could be between February 15 - March 5.

The 18z GFS brings back the winter storm for Texas in the long range around Valentine's Day.

I for one am a fan of the 18z GFS, but I've seen this bowling ball storm way too far out way to many times, it always ends up being either nothing or an East coast super blizzard. :x

Nice! Send some pics if you can. The low in Santa Fe is forecasted to be 8 tonight.

Hey, you never know. During the 2002-03 El Niño winter, Austin received what I would call one of the best winter storms in my 31 years of living here. February 23-25, 2003. It was a multi day event mixing snow, sleet, and freezing drizzle. Shut down the city for several days. And it was the only time I ever witnessed thunder sleet here.

Maybe if I mention this we'll get some of that good juju going.

Yeah it will happen

This is about the 23rd or 24th time, probably more that i have missed, the gfs has shown some 240hr+ fantasy land storm for the deep south this winter and of course nothing has even come close to verifying.

Bought a cord of firewood late last summer in preparation for the supposed "cold" winter and have only burned about 30 pieces of it so far.

Both the GFS and Canadian have been hinting at the Big Arctic HP collapsing into the lower 48 towards mid month....if that does occur, potential for a Major Southern US winter storm is on the table. Keep the faith boys and girls!!!

I really don't want a temp of 9. It's nice to look at until you own cattle and other livestock.

The temp map is even showing the Ouchita shadow effect. It must be true!

Heights and thickness on that run of the GFS doesn't support that kind of cold. Of course unless it's ice/snow prediction is right then it could.
