Re: Texas Spring 2016
And the wind just shifted back to the ESE at Hooks....the front is slowly retreating back north. Houston metro will remain in the warm sector for now, setting the stage for heavy rain. That depends a bit on what affect, if any, the complex out in the Gulf will have.

Re: Texas Spring 2016
Update from jeff:
Low level surface boundary is approaching the US 59 corridor with widespread showers and thunderstorms having developed along and ahead of this feature.
Severe thunderstorm currently over north Fort Bend County will move into extreme western Harris County shortly with a hail and high wind threat. Heavy rainfall continues along and north of this boundary in a scattered nature as southerly flow on the eastern flank of the Mexican upper level low continues over the region. Storm totals in a wide band from Lake Livingston to Colorado County is averaging 2.0-4.0 inches with the greatest totals over SW and central Montgomery County.
Models like the idea of yet another upper level impulse moving northward along the western Gulf coast to fire additional heavy thunderstorms over the region this afternoon into this evening. Severe threat will be maintained south of the low level boundary mentioned above…which may attempt to lift back northward early this afternoon.
Main threat continues to be heavy rainfall and flooding, especially since grounds are now saturating and run-off is increasing. Additional rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches are possible on top of what has fallen with isolated amounts of up to 6 inches.

That line of storms SE of CC has SE Tx name on it. I think the HRRR is seeing this well.

A meso-low (small-scale low) is moving NE of Houston now. Winds in its wake are from the NW-N.

Front/Boundary has moved off to the SE again and advancing...
Seems the blob in the Gulf has temporarily cut us off.

Another complex is coming together in the gulf, SE of the Matagorda Bay area. All the stuff that had formed around Corpus has missed us to the west. This complex is a little further east and appears to be headed in this direction.

As far as the boundary goes, than you for the info. I see that on wundermap but it doesnt update very quickly. I fully expect the boundary to pull back to the NW again later.

Re: Texas Spring 2016
Tons of flooded roads around East Texas where 3-9" has fallen. That much more is expected through the weekend. And we thought last year's flooding was bad.

Looks like the stuff offshore may just skim by to the east of the metro area, barely, more towards Galveston & Baytown. It will be close....

I've noticed on both the Houston and Corpus radars, as the convection moves inland & over the front, it seems to fall apart...

Photo I shot just after midnight. This was taken on the north side of Austin in the 620/Steiner Ranch area looking south.

Re: Texas Spring 2016
Awesome, thanks for sharing that!
This is such a roller coaster. Now it seems the incoming lift is enhancing the rain shield and precipitation rates are increasing around Houston.
Stay tuned because it may be a different story 30 minutes from now
