Looks like we won't get an upgrade until, at the absolute earliest, tomorrow night (if it can slow down enough to close off.)

I don't think they need recon to upgrade. That ship ob from Wxman should do it.

I would have loved to see what we have, but the safety of our crew is much more important than finding out if we have an 35kt tropical storm t best

May they send another plane out tonight? For the safety of the people in Jamaica it would be best if they could be put under a TS warning so the residents know what to expect, and that they don't just think that "the system never developed, we will have no impacts"

It's completely possible they could find evidence of a closed circulation without recon before then.

The TS strength wind field probably won't reach the southern coast of Jamaica except maybe a few gusts. They will issue the usual flood warnings. As aBajan mentioned there could be a lot of rain.
Hopefully the models will get a better handle on Yucatan landfall. Still could be north of Belize if the ridging doesn't stop the recent latitude creep.

I see a closed circulation on the western edge of the deep convection, running ahead of the MLC.
IMO.
