Official (preliminary) totals: 8.15" for July, 3.71" above normal.
Today, 8/1, currently raining heavily for the second time. Unofficial radar estimates - about .3" this morning and probably more than that in this second round. Some areas showing nearly 2" today alone.

The last three days have been quite nice. Among the best of the summer so far. Less humid, tolerable to be outside doing things. No rain for three days amazingly.

HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PADUCAH KY
320 PM CDT THU AUG 11 2016
...Heavy rainfall possible this weekend into early next week...
Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to move
across the area through early next week. The potential for heavy
rain is highest starting Saturday...when tropical moisture will
move into the area. The heaviest rainfall will mainly occur in
the Saturday through Monday time frame.
A large part of the area will likely see 3 to 5 inches of rain
during this period. Local amounts of over 6 inches are possible.
Right now..the heaviest rain should fall along and north of the
Ohio River.
The ground is still fairly wet from recent rains, and a few
storms are possible between now and the weekend. Additional heavy
rain will likely cause flooding...especially in low lying areas.
Confidence is high that heavy rain will fall, but confidence is
lower as to the exact location of the heaviest rainfall. Stay
tuned for later updates or watches concerning this heavy rain
event.

Looks like a new record. Rainfall record for August was 7.85" set just two years ago in '14. As of yesterday's preliminary summary, they were showing 7.83" to date. This morning, they're already showing .02" which would tie the record if verified and there's still rain in the area with more forecast over the next few days.

Re: Ohio Valley; Spring/Summer '16
The image below shows 6 day rainfall totals from Friday August 12th through 7am on August 18th. The heaviest totals were confined to portions of southeast MO and southwest IL, where many areas saw 8-12"+! Some isolated locations received upwards of 15 to 17 inches in Carter and Wayne Counties MO! For comparison sake, the normal rainfall for the whole month of August is around 3 inches. So many areas have picked up between 3 and 5 times the normal August rainfall in under a week! Please keep in mind that the map interpolates between observations, so some locations may be over or under-estimated. As of August 18th, we have now seen measurable rain in some part of our forecast area for 49 of the past 50 days, dating back to June 30th! The only completely dry day during this period was back on August 7th.
http://www.weather.gov/pah/HeavyRainAugust2016
And further back to June 26th, the only other dry day was June 29th, so it's more like 53 out of 55 days. Rain is forecast for the next several days also.

I guess two great days are better that no great days. Got a lot of outside stuff done. The muggies are creeping back in today and tomorrow the rain chances return.
At least it should only be another two to three weeks.

Yea, but I was hoping we'd start seeing regular breaks. Now it looks like another solid two weeks of high humidity and rain chances.

Officially the wettest August on record by a wide margin ... almost 2 inches.
Also the 3rd wettest summer (Jun-Aug) on record.
Rain somewhere within the CWA 56 out of 58 days from June 26th through August 21st.
Also set a record for nights not falling below 70; 63 nights breaking the old record of 59 (2010).
