A strong tropical wave entering the Bahamas in late August. Anyone who was saying "next" last week should have known better.

This is a valid point also...It's not exactly an apples to apples scenario we're talking about here. In other words, the GFS has more opportunities to foul up.

Looking at high-res Weatherbell images right now, structure improves as it crosses Florida which tells me conditions could be very favorable.

I think models are coming together with the ridge being pretty strong...now we just need a center so we can get better data..

I know this is the thread for 99L but as a quick aside..... take a look where 90L is projected to be by the EURO at 96 hours and tell me what you'd be thinking if it just happened to be say about 5 or so degrees to the southwest at this same point and time

Unfortunately it's the Euro which once it locks in on something it's almost certain to happen. Of course it's 9 days out though and change is likely.

My worry is that the Euro is breaking down that ridge too quickly as it tends to do that. Louisiana can't deal with this at the moment. Not that anyone else wants to.
