From http://www.nbc5i.com:
FORT WORTH, Texas -- The sentencing phase in the sexual assault trial for a former Haltom City patrol officer begins Thursday.
Jurors deliberated 40 minutes Wednesday before convicting John Ross Ewing, 29, of three counts of sexually assaulting a child.
The victim, now 18 years old, says Ewing molested him while at a training camp for kids who want to become law enforcement officers.
Ewing faces 20 years in prison on each charge.
His teenage accuser took the stand Tuesday.
The victim described to jurors his relationship with Ewing.
"He said that no one would have to know, it would be a secret, just between me and him, that it was just an experiment, that it was perfectly normal, that no one else would know," he said.
Ewing was off duty when he assaulted the 16-year-old from April to August 2002 at his apartment, police said. He's also accused of molesting another teenager in the program last year.
The Haltom City Police Department's Explorer program was operated in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America. The Police Department suspended the program last year.
Ewing's attorney says the officer did not assault the teenager. He says Ewing just exercised poor judgment by spending too much time with the boy.

You're shocked??
Dude, child molestors are all over this darn world -- moms, dads, priests, preachers, teachers, coaches, cops, doctors, Baptists, Catholics, gays, and straights. Sounds to me like this was a gay guy who was with someone way too young for him. "Poor judgment" is right, if he engaed the child in an act or not. But not all same-sex assailants are actually gay, especially with those who assault much younger victims. Usually it's a white male who considers himself straight and engages in sexual relations with adult women (if and when he does). But with the children, it's about control and he does sometimes perpetuate the act against a younger member of the same sex. It's about control as well as sex. And it's the sickest, most deranged act in the world.
I had to laugh at the guy's name though. John Ross Ewing? Isn't that what "J.R." stood for in the series "Dallas?"

Just wondering, why did you give it that subject line, Stooge? The article says nothing about him being gay. The headline in the article is "Sentencing Phase Begins In Former Officer's Molestation Trial." Nothing about him being gay nor about him being open about it.

Thanx for the advice, I now changed the subject title to "Sentencing Phase begins in Former Officer's Trial" I would put the whole title, but there was not enough room.GalvestonDuck wrote:http://www.nbc5i.com/news/2501289/detail.html
