Edit: On a side note the Mid Level winds are blowing NNW here in South Louisiana.

It's already beginning a northwest motion. It should turn north overnight and northeast by tomorrow evening.

When does the Recon get back in there to show that the center is still further South.

RECON is currently heading out of the storm, the next flight launches at 0400Z/0000L.

Wouldn't it be nice it this thing would just obey the models and spin off toward the Atlantic never making hurricane status in the gulf? That sunset shot is nasty, its just sitting there in the shadow feeding off that warm moist Caribbean heat content being pulled up through the Yucatan channel.

i haven't yet seen evidence of any northern component at all. The low level circulation is clearly evident and it looks to me like it continues on a pretty much true westerly course. So I haven't seen the NW move of which you speak.

The last coordinates on tropical tidbits is 24.3N 87.1 west. Looks to me it is going sw. Is this accurate?

With this type of movement of the center wsw, I think consolidation might be happening.

Looks like once td 9 is away from the land interaction I believe we will see a lot better organization of the storm.

What is the need? System hasn't degenerated into an open wave or anything.

Their policy is to usually issue intermediate advisories if watches/warnings are in effect. Either way latest update is out.

They must be VERY confident in this turn considering next point on the projected path is just about due northeast of it's current location.

NHC doesn't adjust the track for intermediate advisories, so that's why we get the immediate NE turn (since the system has drifted southwest since the 4pm advisory).

They'll just cheat the track. They do it all the time.
