This isn't a hurricane yet, look at storms like Gilbert and Allen, those were hurricanes this thing is clearly structurally a tropical storm.

Yes. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphic ... l#contents

Thanks. My husband is driving to Omaha, Georgia, (near Ft. Benning) on Friday evening. Wondering what he can expect. We are in Gainesville, Georgia.

barring any last minute track shifts (likelihood low), he should expect minimal effects from the storm, as it will be southeast of him moving NE and into SC by that time

I take back my prediction of a 9pm-11pm landfall and change it to a 730pm-930pm. She really needs to slow down if she has ANY chance of being close to forecasted landfall time.

nice visual of the wind direction with height also how much stronger the winds are above the surface. once some heavy convection develops it would likely bring that to the ground..

Not sure why but they always seem to come in a little ahead of schedule.

Storms like this tend to continue the deepening process a little inland.

Lack of deep convection good news for now, let's hope it stays that way till landfall!

Looks to me like Hermine is zeroing in on Apalachee Bay - probably Franklin or Wakulla Counties but maybe as far west as Gulf Co. or as far east as Taylor Co. Last weekend when I said I didn't think it was going to hit the Peninsula (though gave it 20-30% chance), I was pointing up to the Panhandle. This is probably a hair farther east than I thought it would come in, but it's pretty close anyway. Y'all be careful up that way!

When should the heavy rain arrive in Eastern NC?

What would a faster moving storm mean for us at the Jersey Shore?
