What does this mean?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

What does this mean?

#1 Postby rainydaze » Thu Sep 25, 2003 7:04 pm

I just got home so forgive me if this has been discussed, but this is the 7:15 NWS Miami Forecast discussion:

SOUTH FLORIDA AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL
715 PM EDT THU SEP 25 2003

.UPDATE...WIDESPREAD RAIN AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTH
FLORIDA AT THIS MOMENT. SURFACE ANALYSIS INDICATES THAT SURFACE LOW
FORMING OVER THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO JUST OFFSHORE. LATEST GFS
GUIDANCE SUGGESTS LOW MAY DEEPEN OVERNIGHT AS IT MOVES EAST. UPPER
LEVEL VORT MAX PROGGED BY ALL MODELS TO SWING ACROSS AREA LATE
TONIGHT AND TOMORROW AND GFS PUTS HEALTHY UPPER LEVEL DIVERGENT
REGION ACROSS CENTRAL/SOUTH FLORIDA DURING THAT TIME PERIOD. COULD
SEE SLIGHT DIMINISHING TREND OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS...BUT THEN
REDEVELOPMENT LIKELY LATE TONIGHT. SENT QUICK BROADBRUSHED UPDATE
MENTIONING NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND STORMS ALL ZONES TONIGHT. WILL GET
BETTER LOOK AT DATA OVER THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS AS EVENING SOUNDINGS
AND REST OF MODELS TRICKLE IN TO DETERMINE IF ADDITIONAL CHANGES
AND/OR FINE TUNING IS WARRANTED TO THE FORECAST.

.MIA WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
NONE.

Anyone care to speculate? :o

Will be a non-tropical system, just a big rainmaker for you. Upper winds to fast for tropical dev. Watch the area in the NW carrabean, that's more of a tropical problem down the road.
