Hermine's now the costliest storm of the season so far, with at least $500 million in damage. Also killed five people.

Has any system ever done something like this system has? I think this one will go down in the record books for one of the most bizarre systems in recorded Satellite era.

Rainy and raw along the NJ barriers. A little breezy but nothing out of the ordinary. Ocean lookalike an angry wash machine, the backbays are running high and starting to encounter some nuisance flooding.

Convection is also heaviest on her southern side

So Hermine is finished without being finished..yet. Hermine so far has been quite the storm, with some people doing a great job in their analysis of the storm, while others declared her dead when she wasn't. Again, don't take ye eye off a potent CV seed. They still have a lot of energy with them. Not only that, but it was the first hurricane to make landfall in Florida since Wilma in 2005. It ended the Florida hurricane drought. Still praying for the people who've been affected by the high winds and storm surge.
And a big thanks to our pro-Mets, who did a great job on their forecasts despite Hermine being a pain in the neck (and kudos for wxman57 and Joe Bastardi who also did great in predicting Hermine on becoming a hurricane, and were right on the money on the storm overall) and to the Hurricane Hunters (both AF and NOAA) for their work and life saving data that helped millions.

Ex-Hermine still looks very interesting on visible just sitting and spinning south of Long island, still with an "eye" like structure.

As I always do, here's a breathtaking image of Hermine (taken from Wikipedia). The tiny eye and huge size of the storm makes it look far more powerful than it was.

Will Hermine do the same weirdness in 2022? It doesn't appear the name will be retired based on the damage and casualty counts.

Bones had had to "call" 4 storms today - Hermine, Lester, Malou, and Newton. Tropics are now inactive. Time for a break.

Hermine may be dead, but the carcass is still floating in the water offshore.
