Re: ATL; INVEST 93L - Discussion
The rain has picked up and the thunder is pretty loud. I think I've seen more action than hurricane hermine.

Direct hit from 93L here in Orlando, cc almost over head.
In all seriousness looks like a major rain event for everyone on the E coast.

It will be interesting to see how the left side of the system fills in today after some heating of the FL peninsula land mass. This has clearly developed an LLC on radar, now over land in EC FL. Appears to be moving NW.

lol looking at radar. the center might be reforming just offshore back in the deeper convection.. well maybe another center.

Models showing its headed to the big bend region. Don't think it'll reappear in the GOM though.

93L has never looked better, even if the LLC is just over the coast; it is still getting better organized, as if the coastline is acting to tighten up the circulation, and concentrate the convection

Re: ATL; INVEST 93L - Discussion
I remember Elena back in '85; it moved over Cuba as a depression, and strengthened to a 50 mph tropical storm while the center was still over Cuba. Not saying that is happening in this situation, but I think weak systems forming over low land with adequate moisture can maintain and even slowing organize. If it does get back over the GOM, it could have a good enough structure to take off, but it may not make it there, or if so, just barely. This reminds me of those systems in the BOC that tighten up right before heading inland in Mexico... seems like we get at least one of those every year.

Story of this season when Invests have gotten better organized over the peninsula/land.

Yep, and in the case of Louisiana, a tropical system, even if not named, can be trouble. I hope this thing moves out quickly.

yep, the warm waters do seem to be acting to tug it north along the coast. High pressure per GFS is strengthening for next 24 hrs over Carolinas. I wonder if 93L will slow down in response.

Re: ATL; INVEST 93L - Discussion
hell where its at is over the banana river and nothing but flat swamp not much friction. interesting watching the center become more defined on radar ... wonder what happens if this due north continues and it gets offshore what the NHC will say.

yeah, entertaining the idea of it stalling just offshore later today lol.

lol if it does get offshore here in the next hour or so it would have a few hours offshore assuming it continues north...also the upper environment is extremely divergent and it would have no issues developing deep convection quickly..

Re: ATL; INVEST 93L - Discussion
This is the best that 93L has looked its entire life span and it is now moving north-northwest, almost toward a north header, right parallel to the coast. The deepest convection remains just off the coastline and over the Gulf Stream currently. The LLC center has not penetrated very far inland and if the trend continues with this current header it is on, there is a possibility that 93L could straddle or even slightly budge itself just offshore later this afternoon have to monitor it closely.

NEVER, EVER SAY NEVER in the tropics and weather in general, and most importantly, with life itself!!

If you watch doppler velocities out of melbourne you can see over the last hour or so the abrupt change in the storm motion now centered over turbil and shiloh being pulled north maybe slightly just east of north towards that expanding deep convection approaching new smyrna
