Well, interesting. I was nudged west according to the graphic they publish.

Recon showed a second wind maximum developing on its way out.

in the short term (48 hrs) slightly east - in the 3-5 day track slightly west. I know its a little confusing.

There are HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of dollars of potential interrupted economic activity should the NHC start getting the cone over Florida.

Not that they are driven by this but the tourist economy of Florida must be taken into account when planning for the potential of mass evacuations and flight cancellations.

I fly for a living now for a major airline and we don't like to take our planes in too close to a hurricane in the event the airplane goes down for maintenance and a $100 million machine is exposed.

Heck these things want to start flying at 120 mph if you get my drift.

Folks, Stupid question - when you see this comment: "Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles" - does that mean hurricane winds total 70 miles across and tropical storm winds total 370 miles across?

Thanks! ...Alan

Meanwhile Matthew is looking extremely healthy in the last few vis images. Core well surrounded by healthy convection and some nice banding in the outer circulation. A couple outflows pushing out of the storms on the est side for what its worth

Beautiful but deadly

Yes. 70 miles and 370 miles.

It's a good question.

Core continues to heat up this morning and eye getting a little smaller.

Latest core-temp fix is 9C.
Previous fixes were 6C and 4C.

Current eye diameter = 14nm.
Last two fixes were both 16nm.

I have a feeling based on the continued west movement of the cone and the ridge, that this has a real chance of coming to FL thru SC and NC or more of a Hazel situation. The Euro is a bit of a concern

Looks like he is climbing straight up 75W. That was amazing to see the eye bounce off last night when it looked like it was going to cross.

Looks like it stalled again in the last three frames... Or is that just an illusion?

Just a wobble combined with the eye coming back on on IR. He is moving and will stay that way.
