A lot of talk that Matthew is undergoing an ERC. Is there any 89 or 91Ghz microwave satellite evidence or RECON evidence or is this speculation? Just curious since I haven't seen any such evidence and the NHC hasn't said one has started.

No, at present there is neither 89Ghz nor is there 91Ghz evidence that would point to the fact that Matthew is undergoing an ERC.

What a beast. It has done an incredible job keeping that small eye for so long. Praying for the folks in Cuba and Haiti tonight.

Especially considering it was "treading water" over the same space for what seemed like close to a week. With shear, dry air, and some land interaction no less. Really remarkable.

They are talking about keeping a window on the opposite side open to relieve pressure so your house won't pop. Anyone want to take stab at verifying if that is a good idea?

It all got to do with how fast the trof comes in from the great lakes that (piece of energy wont be onshore of the pacific till late tomorrow) . , strength of the Bermuda high , and if invest 98 develops if it does ,does it change how strong the ridge is ? .. alot of changes i think will happen in the next day or so on models .. (window wiper effect) , and i still think we dont know the exact track for Matthew but areas from Eastern Florida to North Carolina needs to be prepared .. ..

The euro is slower on the trof moving out of the great lakes , which is crucial on where Matthew goes (Slower=farther east track Faster=farther west track)
18z gfs is a little slower with trof than the 12 z gfs which equals to a closer track towards Florida/North Carolina but dont ride up the coast instead the phase happens just offshore and brings hurricane/extra tropical storm into Nova Scotia ..

So the next few model runs will be interesting . either way Haiti looks like they will get cat 4 hurricane regardless .. My prayers are with them from Nova Scotia . and hope they recover and there heeding the warnings ..

they are talking about the idea but didnt say it actually works, fyi its a lousy idea....did you hear the meteorologist talk about how good the building codes are and all construction is designed to handle majors...i posted earlier about this...

side note: convection going in fll right now, nighttime been the right time for big storms the last few days on the east side of the peninsula

Bad idea...don't do it!!! House should be air tight with no points of entry. Wind gets in and it will lift the roof off.

If you don't want your house to pop you better have a plethora of hurricane straps connecting all the framing members, from the ground up to the crown of the roof... and all points in between... most houses are not tight enough for it to just pop from having all the windows closed...... usually a failure of the roof structure, or window, or garage door fails allowing the wind to breach the house, causing massive wind damage in the case of a major storm...
