Question About Past Landfalling Hurricanes
Has there ever been a landfalling Hurricane or Tropical Storm in maine(Excluding Donna in 1960)?

Del, I said it DOES appear there were landfalling storms, three of which were
Edna 1954
Gerda 1969
Carol 1953
Don't know which the other two were

Looks like Carol missed Main by maybe 80 miles:

Storm #3 in 1858 hit Rhode Island then went into southern Maine as a Cat 1.

From 1900 - 1950...
Hurricane #2 - 1916 (made landfall in Maine as a TS)
Tropical Storm #5 - 1932
Hurricane #4 - 1940 (not a direct landfall but a VERY close brush as a TS)
Hurricane #9 - 1943 (another very close brush as a TS.. same landfalling area as 1940 #4)
Hurricane #7 - 1944 (paralleled very closely to the Maine coast as a TS)
Hurricane #2 - 1916 (made landfall in Maine as a TS)
Tropical Storm #5 - 1932
Hurricane #4 - 1940 (not a direct landfall but a VERY close brush as a TS)
Hurricane #9 - 1943 (another very close brush as a TS.. same landfalling area as 1940 #4)
Hurricane #7 - 1944 (paralleled very closely to the Maine coast as a TS)
