I am sure Matthew will retired just based on the horror he brought to Haiti. Afraid of the extent of damage and death there yet to be revealed

Stay safe. Hunker down ( as our county judge Ed Emmett states) and keep us up to date on how you are doing..

GFDL keeps Matthew offshore in Florida...It went back East from last night's landfall in Palm Beach...This is the model I trust with strong hurricanes.

I see and hear a lot about the carolina and ga evacuations... I'm in Brevard county FL and have to say i'm really feeling uneasy... could this really be devastating to the whole east coast of fl?

Don't like what I'm seeing from Matthew in the latest imagery, do the necessary preparations and stay safe in Florida. This is going to be a rough ride there on the east coast.

My biggest concern right now is the windfield expanding, and hurricane winds being more than 45 miles from center, that could impact more of FL with that. :/

This. At this point just a little wobble to the west with expanding wind fields could pose a HUGE problem.

Yes, high potential for significant damage along most of Florida's east coast

I just heard on CNBC that Brevard was under evacuation order but please check, he could have been misinformed.

My personal concern as well being in Orlando. Expanded field and slight jog West would mean a significant change for me

Yeah, i know that was a stupid question... just listening to the media and discussions it's like all the concern is with GA and Carolina's... other than barrier islands don't really hear anything about evacuations in FL... Best wishes to all and stay safe. I guess out biggest threats are tornado spinoffs and such.. I'm not liking the loop back models.. that could be a nitemare.

Here is my question: On the scale of actual impacts with damage, casualties, and economic loss at this point wouldn't it actually be more favorable for Matthew to come more west and make full landfall? Yes, wherever that occurs would have devastating impacts but would the land interaction help weaken Matthew enough to lessen impacts of Matthew running just off the coast for hundreds of miles at full steam as a major hurricane?

Perhaps, but it's not as if we can do anything about it.

Same, I'm installing the last of the shutters.

Publix is out of food and water, people still waiting in long lines for fuel and propane.

Do you think they will keep it the same strength on the next advisory in 15 minutes?

Recon is on its way and will tell us if it has strengthened. From the looks of it I would say 130 maybe and pressure down to 955 ish
