Not sure in what universe a 980mb storm produces 150mph winds.

Well, that's what Jim Cantore told me.

Yeah, I don't think so, you must have misheard. A 980 storm is a Cat 2 at best. In fact, Gabrielle 2001 at FL landfall had a 980 pressure but was a 70mph TS. It would have to be the greatest pressure gradient of all time to produce those 150mph winds with that high a pressure.

Perhaps Matthew is going to be a really, really, REALLY big storm!

what a difference 3 hours makes in that sat presentation. terrifying, increasingly buzz saw shape..shart worthy by any measure. I would be shocked if an intensification process didn't start soon. great to have recon in there. the next few hours should be interesting.

I'm in central Seminole County, just NW of Brevard. I'm probably 50ish miles inland...less probably. I've made the preparations I can. I'm terrified.

My thoughts are with my fellow Floridians.

He VERY much is getting his act together just hasn't really started strengthening again yet. He is getting ready to ramp up pretty quickly over night though. Once that is cleared out again which it's well on it's way to do so he should ramp very quickly.

In other words, Matthew is poised. Very poised!

I say within 12 hours he will be a Cat. 5

NHC satellite website is overloaded and responding with server busy errors. You can use this site for SAT imagery:

YOUR place is a mobile home - or HERS is?

I would not stay in a mobile home in a hurricane. Even a new one.

I think it's pretty premature for that

I'm seriously concerned that local 10 said such a thing.
