Dear Lord, people, get the hell out if you still have time. I hope someone is moving the elderly in trailers to shelters. Why would you choose to ride something like this out? Have you not seen pictures of what Andrew did?

Just watched Bastardi. He's going with a system deeper than the 939mb, lowest it's been so far between Bahamas and Florida.

They take it in just about Jupiter as a Category 4 and exit the coast around Daytona as a Cat 2. That means essentially major hurricane conditions all along the East Central FL Atlantic Coast and whatever happens inland. If they're right, it's anywhere from a $10-20 billion storm. They then loop it back to off the SE Coast of FL in the atmospheric and oceanic "shadow" of where it was, so they don't think it will re-intensify and would then be a tropical storm. He cautioned, however, that the rainfall in South Carolina and North Carolina as Matthew fights with the trough is liable to be extreme and brought up I think it was Floyd styled processes.

This isn't good news for anyone living in that corridor (including Ft. Pierce, Melbourne, Titusville, Cape Canaveral and Canaveral Seashore, Palm Bay, Palm Coast, New Smyrna, Port St. Lucie, Daytona, Meritt Island, etc. and likely pretty rough in the eastern suburbs of Orlando (Seminole, Orange, Osceola & Lake Counties).

Hey, it's not my call. I'm just going on what they're saying. They are south of the Hurricane Center's Track and have it hitting at the lowest pressure it attains. FWIW, they also think Nicole will become a hurricane and that we'll have to watch 8-10 days in the Eastern Gulf/Western Caribbean for something coming underneath.

Struggling season indeed.

Blah.

This is a good thing for people so they can do last minute preps/supplies. Law Enforcement, Nurses, Drs, Fire Fighters, Utilities, etc... are also working... your point? It's not always about the dollar - There are tons of people working extra in the coming days away from their families. I know quite a few of them, and trust me it ain't cos of a dollar.

True. Just the rant of a worried dad whose son will be called out to work at the height. Saw Publix waiting to last minute to make decision about closing early.
Publix is the best company and didn't mean to disparage a great company.

This is a strong enough storm that even the weaker side of the eye will cause substantial damage. However - if the eye moves inland, the eastern side of the eye will have winds that are stronger by a factor of double the forward speed of the storm. If Matthew is moving northward at 12mph, winds will be 24mph stronger! Please evacuate barrier islands and anywhere east of 95 between WPB and Palm Coast.

For those that refused to leave I hope they realize that if anything goes wrong that they'll be no one around to help them, they'll be no one to call, they'll be completely on their own.

That'll be a 20-mile wide tornado if and when it hits.

I think the western eyewall will be strong and cause substantial damage. But the whole coast north of say Jupiter will get the northern eyewall which could be catastrophic.

Doesn't the stronger it gets the more west it goes?

WJXT Channel 4 in Jacksonville Meterologists updated their article on Matthew at 8:16AM this morning and have these pics using whatever model they use.
