Yeah John just called the all clear for Broward and Dade... 60+ mph winds in Broward aren't necessarily all clear.

That's still enough for significant power outages.

In addition, Matthew will pile up a surge to its right as it moves along the coast and that big mound of water is going to hit the GA and SC coast regardless of where Matthew itself goes. They're likely to see a big destructive surge no matter what, rather like Mobile in Katrina.

yes but the trend is clearly downward for our area..one feeder band can take out power lines so everyone needs to be ready for that...roofs blowing off isnt happening in miami or broward

I'm looking at Miami radar.. it's either a dry slot or another eye forming

Eye appears to be clearing out once again but the northern periphery of the CDO looks quite ragged.

I've been seeing an almost NNW motion on satellite now for the entirety of the time the visible has been available--what are the chances Florida escapes landfall by 100 miles or so? I don't see this suddenly bending that heavily back to the west at this point.

If that's another eye forming, it is HUGE.

Honestly living in Nova Scotia, I've only dealt with minimal cane's making landfall here. But I can attest to having multiple weather bombs here that absolutely blew all of those Hurricanes combined out of the water as far as effects go. When a storm dumps 50 inches of snow on you, and gives you extremely powerful winds to boot, it's real ugly.

You don't drown in snow, the surge can wash homes and people away. This is why storm surge is the biggest killer.

Went through Sandy and that easily had more impact than all blizzards I've experienced combined all due to storm surge, there's no comparison. It's destruction vs. inconvenience.

It's people like YOU that need to inform people - THEY ARE NOT THE SAME TYPES OF WEATHER SYSTEMS, "only rain vs. snow."

Uh, on. Different animal altogether.

Appears on radar to be forming a moat between inner and outer eyewall. For those who haven't heard of the moat it's a dry area between double eyewalls.
