Weather guys from WFTV Orlando have been right on about tracking the outer eye wall, with the inner eye wall rotating within the outer eye wall... watching via streaming all day... wx guys are doing a great job.. they are really concerned about storm surge off the central coast of FL...

Do you have a link for their live stream?

according to ESPN they will be trying their best to reschedule it

And the UF link that contained the announcement referenced postponement rather than cancellation.

Yes that's correct.

Some of these posts here have really been making me frustrated. Don't say this will be a bust when the hurricane still hasn't made it's closest approach yet! If it hits and is devastating, you're going to look very stupid. If it does do minimal damage, then good but still be careful. With the larger eye developing that will mean higher surge which could cause more flooding damage. Be careful everyone!

Inner eyewall looks stretched SE to NW, basically in the direction of movement.

@ Aric. Does it look to you that the inner eye has started to gain more wrapping convection over last couple of frames as the outer eyewall contracts? Seems to be more reds around the inner eye as well as thickening on last couple of scans. Really weird.

It may take a while for the inner eyewall to give up superiority. It's still generating the most convection on IR by far. These super large outer eyewalls often have a hard time contracting unbroken to choke off the inner. Eyewall replacement may still be ongoing by the time of landfall/closest approach.

That inner eyewall looks almost like it's going to merge with the northern outer eye wall. I'm not super familiar with ERCs--would you expect them to merge or expect the inner structure to dissipate completely?

it looks fairly normal. hard to say exactly not much is know about the process. but as the outer eyewall strengthens and contracts it will eventually choke of the inner and it will soon lose its convection.

Look at the Black go in RBTOP. Ugh. That outer eyewall, while obviously not Cat-5 stuff, is tightening up structurally. Pretty cool to see, but this is not what I would want to see if I was on the east-central FL Coast.

Is the outer eyewall contracting?

Looks like 80-85 kt FL winds in the NW part of the outer eyewall reported by aircraft.

Really curious what you professionals see as the end result of this ERC. It does appear that the inner eye is holding its own nicely both on radar and IR satellite while the outer eye appears to be contracting
