Anywhere else to get the advisory?

No, but the info I have is that the winds are down to 125 mph and the track has shifted a bit to the east.

True that it shifted east, untrue that it's down to 125 mph.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Can we wait a couple of days? The coast does extend beyond FL you know.

The recurved storm would almost certainly be a shell of its former self. Maybe a tropical storm at best. I haven't seen any recent guidance to suggest otherwise.

In 12 years I can't remember having problems with the NHC site, this will be quite an embarrassment if they don't get it up quickly.

Absolute newbie, first post.

Off-topic, but a quick thank you to the moderators, professionals, and those of you sharing legit information on this site. I have been coming here for several seasons to learn more about different weather systems (I am a research scientist, but biomedical with no clue when it comes to weather!). I've learned there are aways distractors who make absolutely ridiculous statements too early (reminds me of an impatient toddler who can't get the toy they want, but I digress...) but they are eventually silenced. Well done.

I have learned so much coming here and following the real discussions. Thank you for all you do.

Safe thoughts for everyone in Matthew's way over the next few days.

WPB was always supposed to get TS winds. And infact suspected Hurr winds as they were a good chance for landfall target (south and west extreme solution). They got off pretty good. Things should improve marginally as the storm continues to move away. (Althought those do look like mean bands)

SFMR showing that the winds in the outer eyewall are stronger than the inner eyewall in the SW quadrant. Looking forward to seeing the NW quadrant when they pass through the first time. That's where the higher winds were in the outer eyewall earlier.

NHC site is back up. Their track keeps Matthew's center offshore.

Okay. Thanks for the correction. Wasn't sure I'd heard it correctly.

The NHC needs to have a talk with whoever provides Storm2K's servers. This site has been bulletproof!

It is apparently still down for the east coast is what I'm hearing so they may be having problems with those servers.
