Still closing in. Inside of the eye is 12.8 miles away from land.

Surprised we are still under a Tropical Storm watch. Unless some more rain bands wrap around the western side, I doubt any of the winds will get pulled down.

Some of the best chances for gusty winds may actually happen tomorrow if we get sun...that will yield good vertical mixing which can help bring gusty winds to the surface...plus the vector will be on shore. best chance over the marine environments. having said that I agree the TS watch should be dropped.

For me it was a straight-line 12-hour movement NNW earlier in the day--that went out the window with that massive westward jog as it neared Grand Bahama and the slight curve in the track after.

So based on the recon fixes, in the past 4 hours Matthew is on a heading averaging 324°
If it keeps this heading & speed during the next 4 hours, almost half of its eye will be over Cape Canaveral, IMO.

outer eyewall only a couple miles offshore.. if it can shift a little west like 5 miles the heaviest winds will come asshore.

The INNER eywall is only 26 miles offshore. That's as close as the outer one was 3 hours ago.

Lot of airlines have pulled down service to Orlando Jacksonville Savannah and Charleston for the day....and will not be staffing the airport. Check with your carrier...using the app on your phone or online may be the best way if phones are busy.

So far hermine looks meaner than this boy. That's a good thing. Keep being a wimp Matthew. (Only talking about fla impact ) no disrespect to Haiti, Cuba or Bahamas. Let's hope he takes a hard right.
