Hi guys, I'm new to this and I know very little about how to read and understand advanced weather stuff, but I'm a geek for cold weather and these GFS models are getting me PUMPED for Christmas time in the Frisco area!

^Count me out. Such cold is quite worthless in places like Texas, and the rest of the South. In an area so far south, it might as well stay warm the entire time.

Personally, all this talk about a wall along the border has been between the wrong countries. Let a massive wall be built all across the Canadian border; or better yet, in northern Canada, where no one lives. And we can supersize the wall up to 10,000 feet tall, Game-of-Thrones style. That wall, all that useless arctic air can stay far north where it belongs, and never ruin the southern climate.

Euro looks much closer to the GFS at 120 hours with the next arctic front so far through Tuesday... it might clear at least some of us this run.

Caving to the GFS. Actually it's faster than the GFS with Wednesday being chilly at DFW. Highs around 40.

Actually really good agreement with the GFS this run... it warms up next Friday/Saturday and then the next arctic blast is entering the Panhandle next Saturday almost exactly like the GFS.

and it's faster next Saturday with that front, no 70s for DFW that day on this.

Every time I hear about the Mcfarland Signature, it reminds me of Steve McCauley.. He explained it so well and with so much excitement! I always loved watching his forecasts on the news.

It's becoming clear something is coming down.Even the conservative weather channel is calling for a nigh near zero here I'm Cheyenne next Friday.That never happens for them to be that aggressive,especially a week out.

The weather channel's app 15 day forecast has rain or snow showers here December 21st 22nd and 23rd. On the night of the 23rd going into Christmas eve it has snow showers and a low of 30.

There is nothing fun about snow, ice or cold. They can be tremendously destructive, costly and deadly.

Temps have fallen from 27 to 24 here in the last hour.

Temp is exactly 32 here. There is a cloud deck keeping temps in check, and there is still a breeze. So it's not dropping like forecasted.

DFW got down to 24F before clouds rolled in and has warmed to near 30 since. Winds stayed up some overnight. Houston has been overcast so South Texas Storms didn't get his freeze but maybe another try tonight. Another cold day today then near 70 by Sunday then down near normal before the next front brings a couple more days in the 30s by Thursday.

Exactly! Persistent cloud cover overnight saved much of Austin from a freeze. At 7 am the northwestern third of Travis County is at or below 32 but that's it. The Portastorm Weather Center in a scenic southwest Travis County has 33.4 degrees at 7 am.
