Nope. Austin and Houston need some.

Yeah ... using a good old Irish word, we've gotten "shite" here in Austin for the last six years!! As I write this, it's snowing again in North Texas like it does nearly every winter. Heck, there was even sleet in the Houston area this morning. We didn't even get that.

You don't get your consistent warm up until you deliver the winter goods. :grr:

WacoWx, did you get my PM?

Things seem to be fairly slick - in places, at least - between the Red River and 635.

In Grayson County, a few accidents (including one rollover) and snow covered roads (in places) with some slick travel being reported.

And on Twitter, DFW Scanner is reporting that the elevated lanes of 635 are getting slick in Dallas.

FYI DFW had a high earlier this morning of 27F. Assuming we don't rise above that, we will break the daily low max temp of 29F set in 1970

Things just started to pick up here on the Johnson / Tarrant Co. line in the last 30 minutes and I've already gotten myself a nice dusting.

Still coming down pretty well too.

I took the kid out - she's a year and half and not impressed. She stood still long enough for me to get a picture of her and then one of her back as she went for the door. :D

peeks of sun and snow still in FTW, the I-30/I-35 interchange is a crawl, and I saw Tex-Dot out patroling

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Fort Worth TX
145 PM CST Fri Jan 6 2017

.MESOSCALE UPDATE...
Clear case of CSI enhanced snowfall occurring over the northern half
of the DFW metroplex with radar showing the classic banded
appearance. The enhanced instability across the DFW area is forecast
to rapidly diminish and shift eastward by 3 pm, but these bands are
going to drop near a quarter inch of accumulating snowfall across
the northern half of the DFW Metroplex and into Hunt and Hopkins
counties and have updated the forecast to reflect that. So far
impacts from this snow have been minimal in the DFW area, as cold
pavement temperatures are allowing the light fluffy snow to blow to
the sides of the street. With the increasing stability and
decreasing moisture in the snow production layer, the intensity of
this snow will wane to just flurries over the DFW area and end
altogether by mid-late afternoon. TR.92

If you've ever doubted that Texas drivers freak out in winter weather, this should change your mind:

Goodness, look at all of those accidents. When you see this, it makes sense why some ISD are closing early.

I couldn't even imagine! It's strange if I even see another car on the way home.

If my rain gauge is legit for measuring snowfall, I'm close to 3/4" already. It's 23F in far N. Dallas, so the snow/water ratio is probably pretty high.

I guess we better enjoy the cold while we can. Next week looks to be a scorcher and from the forecast, above average temps after that.

Heavy snow band moving through FTW currently, and looking at the radar the back edge to the heavy precip is just entering the NW corner of Tarrant Co.

1/4 to 1/5 of an inch in my yard. BLowing snow actually has some 1-2 inch drifts along the sidewalk edges. Ha. True blizzard. Ha. Here in Midlothian.
