Yeah, traffic is likely to be an absolute mess down in South Carolina on eclipse day. I have decided on viewing the total solar eclipse in Santee, SC, which is a resort community located right on the bank of Lake Marion, a direct 3 hour drive right up Interstate 95 for yours truly. I did not want to get too far away from the I-95 corridor considering the traffic logistics. Santee is right on the centerline of the path of totality. The duration of totality there is expected to be 2 minutes and 35 seconds. For me, Santee is about as good a spot as you will have for this huge event. I plan to arrive there on the day before the eclipse to try to beat the avalanche of people flocking in from all across the Eastern U.S. Hopefully, the weather will co-operate that day and I will not have to go fall upon any contingency plans (fingers crossed)

The Total Eclipse view in Puerto Rico will be around 80% of the sun covered and that is not bad at all.Hopefully,the weather cooperates on that day.

I've already arrived. It should be in excess of 98% here, probably close to 100% since the track shows just a few miles from me. I plan on laying by the pool in my back yard trying to remember not to look up.

I'm expecting it to be cloudy though.

Saw a blurb in the last few days that campsites had 'sold' for $60K each. Me and my neighbors could make a killing that way. I only have about 5 acres, but most of the neighbors here have 50 at least, some of the farmers have over 200 acres.

Wow. We are now only just 42 days, a mere six weeks away from the most awesome spectacle of a lifetime, The 2017 Great American Solar Eclipse. It is approaching rapidly and I am just keeping my fingers crossed for a good weather day on August 21.
