Re: Florida Weather
We had about 8 inches of rain in the last 3 days in two main events. Dry season over.

Re: Florida Weather
My number finally popped today as we are getting a classic extremely heavy seabreeze/outflow collision induced thunderstorm. we missed out on the heavy rain last week so it's about time. Lake Tarpon was still down more than a foot before this storm.

Re: Florida Weather
good overnight rains and thunder across coastal SE Florida last night and good rain chances continue each night and morning through early next week at least. It's good to see the late night/morning showers and storms back on the east wind pattern. Seems like so many summers they have been missing here despite east winds. I think it is an indicator the Atlantic may be more moist this year for supporting hurricane activity unlike some previous years where there has been an abundance of dry air and SAL around. Expecting an active Atlantic season with above normal activity.

Yeah, this at least seems a little more "normal." We are seeing a strong east-southeast flow, but it's not necessarily making us go dry all day, every day. At least there have been showers making it onshore in the morning and evening....whereas in the past several years, under this kind of regime you'd see showers and storms lining up offshore on the radar, but they'd almost always fizzle to nothing before they'd get within 20 miles of the SE Florida coast.

And the daily rains continue across central FL, my grass cannot get any greener than what it is, so far this month I have received close to a foot of rain in my neighborhood.

I'm way behind those levels but we're getting plenty. If our tropical system develops it should help induce a southeast flow and the western side of the state could really cash in next week.

Re: Florida Weather
Trust me. if folks have not had any significant rainfall on the West Coast of the peninsula yet, they just need to hang tight for just a little bit. Plenty of rain likely on the docket for them in the coming days. We have had plenty here already the past week and a half.

NEVER, EVER SAY NEVER in the tropics and weather in general, and most importantly, with life itself!!

Re: Florida Weather
looks like a dry period upcoming for Southern Florida especially the SE Coast of Florida, time to turn on those sprinklers!

Re: Florida Weather
Next week, Tuesday/Wednesday and cold front is forecast to make it to Central Fl. and wash out. Isn't this ridiculous for late June? If this keeps occurring throughout the summer what impact does this make on our hurricane season?

Re: Florida Weather
Frontal systems that make it into Florida generally signals mid-latitude troughing, especially across the Eastern ÇONUS. This type of pattern is beneficial to help deflect away (turn out to sea) tropical cyclones traversing the MDR from impacting the peninsula, especially during the heart of hurricane season. It definitely is not too unusual to see fronts make it down into the peninsula this time of year.
However, this pattern can spawn development of homegrown systems on the tail end of these troughs, either in the GOM or off the immediate SE U.S. Atlantic coast in the early part of the season in June or July. We have seen these scenarios happen numerous times in recent years.

Naples rain has caught up for the year. May was 5.5 inches back, and so far in June we are 0.8 inches ahead. The pattern is very similar to 2013. Like a biennial thingy.

Re: Florida Weather
Finally, the strong easterly flow is subsiding somewhat. I'm seeing more build-ups already today around Miami-Dade than I've seen over the past week and a half. Seems possible that in a hour or two, could get some thunder. I love those summer days when the flow is fairly weak and everyone gets a chance of rain - that is the kind of rainy season I remember.

Re: Florida Weather
Seems to be drying up again in my neck of the woods with dry hot July sunshine and east wind flow pushing any storms that do develop into the interior. Looks like rain chances do increase though this weekend into early next week.

Re: Florida Weather
In my neck of the woods we have had close to 18" of rain since the rainy season started, even had hail yesterday. Retention ponds are starting to overflow.
Meanwhile the west coast of FL's waters are a hot tub, upper 80s to low 90s up and and down the coast.

I can testify to those very warm water temps...they're near 90 here presently which is near the top of their normal summertime range.
