Heck I remember a couple times it approached 2011 levels this upcoming few days... close to 110 and barely below 85 at night.

Tomorrow looks to be the last shot at 100 for at least the forecasting range... GFS is much closer to 90 than 100 for most of the entire run...

I'm not sure how the euro is doing for dew points, but the GFS has been off a good 3-5 degrees for DPs. That makes a difference of how easy it is to get to 100+. The model keeps thinking mid 60s when reality is 70-75.

I hope tomorrow is it, peak of summer and hottest day let it be over with.

So, I have no research to prove this, but for DFW the Euro EPS mean seems to run cool by a degree or so and the Euro Weeklies tend to run warm. The latest Euro Weekly mean says tomorrow is the last 100 degree day at DFW.

It was it for me! 6 days later I went back to Ohio and missed the late heatwave. I am hoping for a cooler fall though. I was able to wear shorts all the way up to Thanksgiving last year and that just doesn't seem right.

Ugh, that one was so dispiriting. I'm not sure how high we go today in DFW; lots of high cloudiness to the northeast seemingly drifting southward.

Thursday marked the 10th day in a row of triple digit heat for Austin. Also, 21 of the month's 27 days have reached highs of 100 or higher. I'm afraid today and tomorrow the temps may even climb a degree or two. Hopefully these longer range models are right ... maybe this will end up being the apex of Summer 2017. It's been pretty rough down here in Austin.

It can be stark what drought can do to summer heat. The difference is quite noticeable between Austin and DFW, for which one has seen rain and the other not much and in moderate drought.

Once again dew points at DFW is running 70-75 instead of the GFS thinking mid 60s. Likely another humid 99-100 day. There is a front draped in NW Tx along the Red River.

Highs next week still look like low to mid 90s and E or NE wind, which for early August is basically a summertime arctic blast. If there is rains it will likely be cooler.

So, we're well on our way to the 11th straight day of 100-plus temps in Austin. We may even set a record as it was 104 at Camp Mabry at 3 pm and the record is 105.

Per NWS Fort Worth's Vic Murphy, Austin is running 1.2F warmer than any previous "hot" year and we are on pace to have the warmest year on record. Sheesh. :(

Get used to it because we will only get hotter going forward into the coming decades.

Euro still keeps it anomalously cool. GFS less so but certainly no heat wave

1.75" of rain last night. Highest temperature for the summer so far is 95 degrees. High temps of around 90 or just below for the next week. What summer?

Austin should easily set a new record high for this date. The standing record is 105 at both Camp Mabry and the airport. At 3 pm Mabry has105 and the airport is at 104.
