It was stupid hot today. HOU reached a record high of 102 this afternoon. Hope we're past the hottest day of the year now.

Curious >> Are weeklies keeping with the unsettled pattern? CFS, CFSV2 seem to be struggling with ridge placement over the next few weeks.

Coolish week still on tap.
Meanwhile west coast heat forecast intensifying. Portland is forecasted now from 105-110 while Seattle may go 95-100 all pushing records...looks like Brent is taking the heat with him

Somehow I'm not even surprised. This is about like my snow luck in the winter.

Late run of Euro brings another trof to reinforce the cooler air mass in place which gets us to almost mid August. By then climo begins to fall. Dare I say the worst of summer is behind us?

How often do we see these shades of blue in summer? Not often, unless winter

Broke record high temps again today with 106 at Camp Mabry. The airport tied the record at 105.
'Fun' fact: Today marked the 13th straight day of 100+ degrees at Camp Mabry and 27th day of the year. 24 of those days came this month.
This alleged pattern change can't get here soon enough.

84 for a high today in Texarkana with a dewpoint of 62. 7.25" of rain for the month of July. North of I-20 and east of a Paris to Sulphur Springs line this has been a relatively mild and wet Summer.

Okay that's it. Time for me to move to Texarkana and bring my weather with me!

Re: Texas Summer 2017
Been brutal in Central TX but some relief is on the way!
DFW had a high only of 94F today and with the east wind and low 90s now it feels comfortable. DFW may be liable to have a mid 80s high day this coming week which for early August is phenomenal! Record low max temps for August 3rd and 4th is only mid 80s. I don't think we see the magnitude August chill like in 2004 but for the apex of peak climo and hottest week of the year, is not so hot after all.

Re: Texas Summer 2017
Looks like could be the biggest heat wave in Seattle since the summer of 2009..
There's that 2009/2010 analog again

The forecast temps for Portland is out of this world. 107F is their all time high. 105-110 is their forecast mid to late week. Even for us that's really hot, for them it's unspeakable!
Excessive heat watches up and down the NW Pacific coast.

You could tell the cold front came through today. The wind shifted to the NE and the temperature only reached 99ºF here today!

Re: Texas Summer 2017
If everything works out it looks like Summer is over for me since I leave Texas on the 16th. Even if Ohio gets a heat wave that's typically 85-92 degrees for them, which isn't bad at all.
