They did this with Bret as well (or Don) which I think was to get a better idea of the larger surface flow before closing the center off.

a lot of WSW winds. and being that they are not closer to the center there will be plenty of west winds on this next set.. expect our newest TS shortly. .say hello to harvey

We knew it was Harvey this morning what we don't know is what the models will do once we initialize them with a tropical storm. Probably why the NHC kept the track north of Honduras.

Now the question is, do we get a 5pm upgrade or do we get a special advisory (or at least outlook) indicating such?

The NW winds may be from the outflow of the tower firing off. They are on the SE side of it.

More likely the center was pulled/relocated towards that convective burst.. recon will tell us.

I don't know maybe but it seems they are too far south east the center is further NW

It's cute how you guys all get excited over things that aren't even tropical cyclones yet.

It's like "this is my floofy and I will watch over him and feed and nurture him until he is the swirliest floofy of all."

Well except for the fact said floofy might come to roost at your house. That's never fun...

Winds sure do seem to make the case for Harvey. My eyes keep thinking that the low level and mid level centers are very very tilted or detached. Strange too..... now that I'm looking closer, there does appear to be a couple specs of something "floofy" turning counter-clockwise in my coffee as well. A sign perhaps?
