Speak for yourself, Mathew did plenty, believe me.

Both of my neighbors had 100 year oaks destroy their roofs, miraculously no one was killed.

No mandatory evacuations in Corpus Christie?!

They urged people to leave, but not mandatory. He said he was just in the. Edge of declaring it yesterday, but never did.

Surge may not be as strong as Ike due to some circumstances and location of landfall, but it is just as fierce if not more.

Again if this were in the EPAC or WPAC it looks good enough to be estimated for Cat 4. When you can see blue clear down the eye on JSL loops you know it takes a very intense storm to get that view.

The town of Rockport will be one of the hardest hit towns, right on the track of Harvey.

If there is any good news, it looks like there is a good chance of landfall on a sparsely developed national wildlife refuge, unfortunately this could mean some serious surge for villages near the refuge like Seadrift, Austwell and Port O'Connor. Since these villages are remote, it might take awhile for emergency services to reach these locales, I hope everyone evacuated.

Keep in mind that I am not an official forecaster, and locals should refer to their proper government officials for accurate information.

Its wobbling

If it wobbles west too much that would put Corpus Christi in the western or southwest eyewall.

Yeah I think there's a decent chance Corpus Christi could get hit by that western eyewall in a few hours. We'll see how much longer this westerly wobble continues.

Nope, I heard the Mayor on the radio this morning and he said people were smart enough to leave if they wanted to. Sounds like a real leader to me!!!

Since we have so many people on the forum, I want to make another post about the rain.

Image

The flooding threat from rainfall with Harvey cannot be understated. The Weather Prediction Center had to add an additional color to their legend because of Harvey. The entire Houston metro will likely see over 20" of rain in the next week. Areas that you've never seen flood will flood next week. If you live inside the red, pink, or purple area on the above image, you need to be ready for catastrophic flooding that may block roads and cutoff neighborhoods for days. And remember...NEVER EVER DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADS OR AROUND BARACADES.

I heard that Harvey is forecast to make a second landfall near Houston and so the storm surge will move up the bayous at the same time the rainwater is moving down. They say the surge will basically block the bayous from draining and so make the flooding worse.

Is this accurate?

Looking at Google Maps traffic, looks like there are people on the highways stuck in traffic heading out of Corpus Christi.
