Euro had something similar a few runs ago...can you imagine this not going inland then tracking up the coast!!![]()
That is very unlikely. None of the latest model guidance is showing this happening.

I am thinking about my fellow Fire/EMS guys down in TX tonight. Stay safe, brothers, please. I don't want to get a LODD notification because of this storm. Secure yourselves, and be safe.
I'm not sure you want to be in a basement given how much rain this is about to dump on people's heads. If you are, you need to be prepared to move up away from rising flood waters. Wind can kill you, but water will kill you.

It's still going to go inland all of the models show this.

Slowing & turning left perpendicular advance to coastline = core will tighten and the storm intensifies.

I was just about to say the same exact thing. Of course it could wobble right back west, especially now that it has slowed meaning wobbling and meandering is quite possible.

I though I saw a slight wobble to the north. but it didn't last long if it did or it was just the odd shaped eyewall briefly.

Have not been on in a few hours and caught the very end of a local forecast and spaghetti models shown looked to go more west. Or is this just the start of the loop? Is this still heading east toward Tx/la border?

Indeed. It all depends on where you are, hence my mention about the surge zone. Guess I should have included "flood/surge" zone in that.

Hurricane Harvey has intensified by 85 kt in the last 48 hours. This is why accurately forecasting rapid intensification is so important. From a TD to landfalling Cat 4 in two days.

Unfortunately there are no basements or storm cellars in this neck of the woods. Water table is too high.

No easy task...but you pros are the best at what you do, so keep it up! NHC/NWS did a good job of getting the word out early...I just hope people listened.
