Yeah. Y'all are stuck with an onshore flow regardless of what happens in the next couple of days with the center. Anyone caught under the feeds will be setting daily records. Hopefully GCANE or 1900 can keep us up to date on CAPE and water volume indexes.

Allison was 30 inches of rain. So that's what would have to be topped.

I'm in cypress and we are currently getting about an inch an hour. No tornado activity for a few hours now. Raining but not so hard the drainage can't keep up. My yard is a swamp though!

I have a friend in the Friendswood/League City area, and she says they have a foot of water in the house already. Their whole subdivision is flooded, so everyone is stuck. Not a good situation at all.

It's possible. That and Alicia are the modern benchmarks for tropical damage in Houston.
Allison put "black mold" on the map and also led to recovery limitations.
Ike was much worse than Alicia. Winds were much higher in downtown Houston

Re: ATL: HARVEY - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Winds might have been higher but the broken glass in so many high rises clearly led to better building codes. That news footage from 83 (?) is still some of the craziest I've seen. Ike wasnt a picnic in Houston (or near Houma where I was), but it's more a modern Galveston benchmark than a Houston one.

Oh and Alyono, even though this is the discussion thread, would you agree the European at 48 hours looks to be in a bad place for Galveston and Houston?
Low res has it emerging just a hair north of original landfall. That looks to keep Houston seriously under the gun with onshore feeder bands for at least 2 days so far.

Bayous in Houston can't take much more, and band 3 heading our way. Looking like a horrible night for many in Houston.

There are 62 separate statements out from the NWS Houston. I dont think I have ever seen that many at one time issued by one office

We're seeing the worst flooding in a major US city since Katrina tonight. And it's been predicted for over three days now.

If those lines converge I can see them dropping another 8-10 inches in a few hours.

There is a third line developing in between the two larger ones.
