Was this directed at my post? I'm watching KHOU out of Houston and the forecaster just said he thinks the possibility of an additional 20 inches is possible. It's not my prediction.

No, offending post already removed. Just be sure to post evidence or where you got the info and usually it's not a problem.

Radar loop: https://weather.us/radar-us/texas/refle ... .html#play shows another band about to slam into Houston. Going from bad to worse to worst to whatever's next. To think that this could go on for DAYS (supported by model guidance) is insane.

Reporting in from just north and west of downtown Houston. We made it overnight. Kind of hard to describe how relentless the rain was and in the dark it was awful.

We've had at least 18 inches of rain in 24 hours. My rain gauge goes to 6" and I emptied it a lot yesterday to avoid it filling and splashing out, but between 2:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. I tried to sleep so didn't empty it. When I got outside at 7:00 it was filled to the top, so we probably had more than 6" during those five hours.

So far we haven't flooded, so we are very lucky. I did a lot of work cleaning drainage areas before Harvey arrived and everything I worked on is draining well. Glad for that. We had a lull for a bit and the ditches cleared out well, so the water still has somewhere to go. No telling how long that will last.

I know we have a member in Victoria. How is it looking there? I'm going to be heading down there later this week and plan on staging out of there

I would think as it gets closer to the coast again, the moisture content around the circulation might increase.

So far so good for my little neighborhood in Galveston. East and West of us on the island - I have seen some bad pictures. But our streets have been way more flooded than this with regular rain fall. I feel extremely fortunate. Watching Tropical Tidbits - of course - almost constantly. Image

Mind blowing images of the flooding. It's hard to wrap my mind around it. These poor people. How long will this last? How long after the rain stops will it take for the water to subside?

Water slowly rising as I've been watching this for the last hour. Really sad and scary stuff.

Things are getting worse in this band coming through. Thunder and lightening to go with the heavy rain. I hope I don't loose power.

Just heard from Daughter in Kingwood. Their street is not flooded, but they have heard of road closures nearby.
Also - she is a teacher and just got the official word that schools there will be closed on both Monday and Tuesday for sure.
I am wondering if those two days will be enough. Guess tptb are in a wait and see mode there.

Ntxw wrote:As bad as landfall was, this is what many of us have portrayed as the catastrophe and what Harvey will be remembered for, the extreme flooding. Millions are in the Houston area who were complacent because he did not make landfall there but that is the area being hit hardest with flooding.

If Allison caused $9 billion in damages Harvey will probably be at least double if not triple.
