I feel so bad asking this because of what's going on east of us, but we are in a very confusing situation and could use some guidance as it seems OEM is a bit overwhelmed at the moment. We are in Katy, inside the Barker Reservoir flood map. Buffalo bayou behind us topped over today and our streets are flooded, houses are starting to flood in the neighborhood.

OEM says we are under voluntary evacuation and should consider leaving in the morning. But they aren't giving us guidance on where to go. I'm not even sure we could get a car out of our neighborhood... but if we could - the models are confusing and I can't tell if the situation we are in is going to get worse or better and whether or not to try and get out.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I know there are worse situations, and I'm incredibly grateful we don't have water intrusion yet (but also feel guilty for feeling that way, bah this sucks). Anyway, WWYD?

Tomorrow morning pictures may be worst then today. The Corp of Engineers had to open the flood Gates early on the 2 reservoirs North of Houston. Was suppose to open one until 2am and the other 24 hours later. Both were opened at same time about 1230 am

Looks to the West to me. Not being rude or anything left side of radar and satellite is West and right side is East.

Yeah. I'm well aware of that. That is why I said east. The band is setting up to the right of bay city. Means it will end up in Houston.

Not long now until the center is over water again. Will be interesting to see how long it takes for convection to start refiring near/over the center.

I realize Houston is more important, with many more people, but we are getting hammered in The Golden Triangle area. Roads closed. Schools closed. Most businesses closed. Heavy rain for hours on top of all of the other disastrous rains the past day or so. A lot of flooding and it's still coming down.

How far is the water away from the house?

According to latest COAMPS ru, heavy rain will return to Houston around 2 to 3PM CDT.
Harvey moves offshore and closer to Houston.
Higher convergence will draw in GOM moist air and dump it closer to the CoC.

Looks like tomorrow around noon a large latent heat release in the GOM could strengthen Harvey in the afternoon somewhat before coming back on shore.

My house lost power in Beaumont... I had a camera setup to watch to make sure it didn't flood and now I can't see, with this heavy band over Beaumont right now I bet it floods big time. Thank god im in Austin.

You know your situation better than anybody on Storm2K.
Apparently your house is a foot or more above the street level so it might not be safe to travel for a while anyways. Worst should be over for this morning since you survived the reservoir release and Houston is out of the rain band this morning.

I would probably stay and watch the water level drop checking in with the radar frequently.
If feeder bands start building again and the water level has dropped enough to travel I might bug out, could be without power in the area for a while if there is infrastructure damage?

Haven't heard much about the estimated time for restoring utilities on the board here so can't help there, very sorry ..
