Looks like Harvey has transitioned fully to subtropical status. Means it likely will never attain hurricane status but have an increasing wind field with tropical storm force winds and be lopsided with heavy convection on one side.

Dry air shows no signs of letting up either looking at the water vapor loops.. don't see how Harvey can do anything any time soon with this dry air intrusion...

I don’t think it really matters all that much as long as that band of constant moderate to heavy rain keeps sitting over Houston and surrounding areas... and it might be subtropical or extratropical at this point which would explain the pressure falls despite the dry air.

the nose of the dry air is poking into a small section of extreme SW LA, prohibiting rainfall at the moment, really visible on radar ...good for them

My God, people are wading in water and walking 3 miles to get rescued. Reporter is saying there is still 100 people waiting for rescue and the helicopters have stopped due to darkness and the boats are about to quit also because they don't have lights. All unfolding on abc13.com

And thats just ONE road they are showing.

I agree, dry air is not affecting the northern half of Harvey, which is unfortunate for TX and LA... just a snippet of dry air got into extreme SW LA and put a damper on the rainfall... have no idea how long the dry air will affect that small region...

Yes. Subtropical. Think he will become a stronger sub tropical storm, though. Been saying 65 mph not out of the question. Wouldn't take much of a pressure drop at all to see those kind of winds in this large wind field in the NW GOM.

I'm not solid on the status of its tropicality (made this word up) yet. But Tropical or subtropical, this thing will continue to wreck havoc.

I didn't see the NHC mention this in their last discussion. Did you read this somewhere or just your opinion?

Your best bet is to contact local authorities, I don't even know where find that info.

The rumors are FALSE, there is no problem at the Lake Conroe Dam. Please pass this along. Thank you!

We are unable to slow the releases until we are closer to full pool (201msl). Lake level is slowly going down, we are now at 205.97msl.

Rough day yesterday and today in NW Houston area. 19 inches yesterday but only 5ish today. Water was coming in last night. Both cars may be a loss. Garage has water. Really hoping the worst is behind us.

Finally have some immediate relief with receding water. Cautiously optimistic.

What is yalls take on where this is going next? Is Houston going to get bailed again?

Glad to hear you are ok. My best guess is it goes east up near the TX/LA border but I'm unsure what that means for Houston rains. Right now all Houston is forecast to get A LOT of rain, but once Harvey gets east rains may let up since most rains are east of storm. Just guessing based on models, not much more.

As of right now, you are in better shape in the next couple hours than the south half of the city, but the rain bands are appearing to get more intense as night falls. There is a lot of intensifying moisture still training over Galveston Bay moving toward Houston. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Thanks, y'all. Getting weary and looking at models is making my eyes cross at this point.

Here is the latest IR, and where the dry air is impacting Harvey for the time being ... devoid of any significant convection highlighted...
