Amazing stat. Houston International (KIAH) got more rain in a two day period (August 26th and 27th) - a total of 24.44" than any previous forty day (40!) period on record.

That circulation is quite impressive and robust, hate to think what old Harvey might have done without the dry air intrusion

Your best bet is to contact local authorities, I don't even know where find that info.
Agreed, you need to call Fort bend county civil defense. They will have the local knowledge you need. 281-342-6185 is their phone #

What are the possibilities that Galveston bay ends up flooding? Bastardi mentioned it as a real possibility.

Numerous tweets about rivers starting to flood. This will be the second part of this disaster, unfortunately, as rivers begin to crest. Everyone should stay vigilant, hoping for the best.

Harvey has really moved well off the coast. Thought the forecast was for him to stay close to coast before coming up for landfall along upper Texas coast. He's further offshore than I thought he would be at this time.

It literally looks like the dry air is choking him and punching his head at the same time.
Unfortunately for us Harvey seems determined to survive...he has after all been able to pull energy from his own floodwaters up till this point.

Yeah, little to no convection around Harvey center, but onshore flow around Harvey is pushing moisture (without let up) into SE Texas. Matter of fact, it looks like the shading is becoming darker (more moisture).

DMAX could be interesting tonight with the center sitting just south of Houston.

But looks like a classic set up for a deepening sub tropical storm. Harvey represents the low between the two distinctly different air masses--continental and dry to the north, and warm and moist to the south.

Re: ATL: HARVEY - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Please pray for EVERYONE IN HOUSTON or whatever you do. We have at least 2 different levees getting ready to breach and emergency evacuations are in progress. We have family that has already been affected and are safe, but our daughters neighborhood is filling up and we have had to give them instructions what to do to be safe. They have a second story to go to, so they should be safe, but this rain is relentless and it has no where to go. I have verified amounts over 3 feet from some friends and we are approaching 20" at out house but are not flooded so far. This is catastrophic for 10s of thousands if not 100s of thousands of people and we see no end in sight for at least 24 hours if not longer.
