By the way do we finally see some convection forming around the center?

Southerngale, know that my prayers are with you and your community. To all the others still being effected by this storm, know that I am still thinking about you. You are all a family to me here, and I will not stand down until I know you are safe after this monster passes. Please, continue to stay safe.

There must be enough breaks between these areas of rain to be able to allow for drainage, which is great news. The way that it looked Sunday Morning, I was thinking that we would be seeing only rooftops of the city with all the feet of rain. I know it's not quite over yet. I'll just keep hoping for good news

I'm watching abc13.com There are people being rescued at this time. There is a man driving a front end loaded up and down a main road..at every intersection there are people standing waiting to be rescued. Crying for help and he can only take a few at a time. They are scared and trying to climb on the sides of the front end loader he said earlier. He said they need more HELP. This is on ONE road ..imagine how many people need to be rescued. It's raining, there are children shivering...everybody is soaking wet and they are having to wait to be taken to a walmart, where they are boarded on another vehicle and taken to a shelter, shelters which are running out of blankets, food...etc. Its bad, trust me...its bad.

Yet the Houston Fire Department has advised they do not need or want any more volunteer help. It's just like Katrina and with the denial of what is being shown right on live TV, it's making me sick.

Everything trying to fire keeps getting blown off to the NE.

That's like 25 minutes or so from me...just wow. I worked with a horse rescue close to there. This has got to be rough on them. And I have friends in the area - I have heard from them - all are alive - some stuck at home.

While our luck has been holding - the water is now up the drive way right at the wall of our house. This has happened before - so I am not freaked out. We live on an island and it floods more often than anywhere else I have lived. Kinda used to having Venice like streets when it rains. Which is why I have been surprised by the lack of flooding with this event. We are upstairs but so far even with the foundation problems its dry downstairs. I bet we will have a mess like early on in this event by the morning. I am grateful that it has not been worse for us - but my heart goes out to my family, friends, clients, and everyone effected by Harvey. :(

To those responding to my comments, I know that it's EXTREMELY bad in Houston. What I was saying is that I'm surprised that the water height isn't double of what it already is considering the copious amounts of rain that have fallen.

The lightening is firing over the NW side of the bay.

This is surreal, I will never understand why some people still try to drive through floodwaters like this. If they survive, there is a good chance the transmission, and rear pinion gears on their trucks will be shot. Turn around, don't drown is good advice to follow

Here's hopingg that shear and dry air continues to eat away at the precious shield form the NW... Hard to tell if that has continued or if it's stopping And Houston is going to to end up stuck in the precip axis.

Can the shear and dry air intrusion disrupt the circulation enough to put a stop to this insane moisture feed into Houston and surrounding areas? What are the chances of the circulation just getting choked out or does this thing HAVE to move out of the GOM and be back over land to dissipate? Precarious and frightening situation unfolding with these levees in an already tragic situation. :(
Also, any current news on Rockport and other Ground Zero locales? Any members here that can update us on recovery efforts there? We have NOT forgotten about you! :flag:

I am frustrated that the forecast keeps changing. At this point, I don't know if I will be able to make it to work in the morning or not. It is raining hard now and from the looks of the radar, it looks like it continues all night. But the forecast keeps switching from 2-3 inches to 5-8 inches and significant flooding. I think no one really knows what is going on.

There isn't any information I can add to the situation in SE Texas and so I shan't try.

Flash flood watches have been posted as far east as the AL/FL border and a tornado watch has been posted for SE Louisiana as moisture from Harvey interacts with an extant frontal boundary.

Still OK here with power and no flooding. Got a text from Southerngale - flooding in her neighborhood but not her house, at least not yet.

I know, and I would never dream of attempting to get there if the streets flood again. It is just the uncertainty that is making me nervous.

Sounds like Porr Aransas let primary residents in today to see their properties. People with second homes there still or allowed in. Port O'Conor, Rockport, and Port Lavaca asking residents to stay away still until the debris can be removed from the roads. No water, food, or power in most of the coastal communities that took the eye

Galvbay reporting from Smith Point TX. North side of Galveston Bay, Chambers County. Incredible amount of continuous rain. 11" today(Davis Station) wind gust to 44mph. Anahuac has received heavy flooding...reports Winnie has flooding. We've had some tornado warnings but nothing seen. Local tractor barn was blown out last night. Roads are impassable up to Anahuac. We are in good shape here. Y'all be safe out there! galvbay

No reports of any levee or dam failures? So far so good.
