Southerngale have you contacted authorities for a rescue. Also I can post your address on the rescue site that boat rescues are using to rescue folks but there are thousands listed so it may take a while. Also I don't know how savvy you are with technology- assume you are because your on here- but there is an app called Zello which is like a Wallis talkie. You can sign up and I can tell you what channel to add to find the channel where they are dispatching people with boats to rescue. I've been listening to it and helping provide maps to the people rescuing. Let me know how I can help. Be safe!!!

Morning everyone.

I'm deleting comparisons to other storms because it upsets folks and now is not the time for comparisons. Let's keep the focus on Harvey and the ongoign situation and recovery please.

Saved radar loop. Some areas have been under heavy rain all night.

Radar loop shows that moisture levels are beginning to increase offshore, just north of Harvey's center. Recent model runs showed a Harvey dropping three or four mbs in pressure before making its second landfall. Will check models for this all during the day today. So far, as of 4am advisory Harvey still only moving 3mph E, no north component yet. I think the projected pressure drops are justified and would indicate a strengthening tropical storm at landfall. Still think 65 mph is reasonable with overall increasing moisture environment in NW GOM.

With the core of heavier rain rotating to the north and west of Harvey's center, I think the Beaumont to Lake Charles area will be POUNDED with heavy rain the next 24 hours. West Houston may see less than an inch, east Houston (BW-8) may see 3-5 inches, but the core will be east of there. Maybe 10-15" or more? Major flooding for them.

Squalls remain well to the north of Harvey's center (which is at 28N). Looks more like an occluded front now. Could strengthen a little, but without a core it'll be hard to strengthen a lot.

Sourherngale, I know how stressful it can be to watch the water creeping closer to your home. We had 18" of flooding in our home with TS Fay. It is a trying time indeed. Stay safe and know that you and yours are in our thoughts and prayers. I know that it is overwhelming in the middle of flooding... and in the days, weeks and months following something like this. I pray for peace for you. The water WILL recede. A new day will dawn.

News Alert on TV says Jeff Linder has told them that
Addicks Dam is 6" from spilling over.

Yeah its getting pretty close now to overflowing. It's roughly going up at 0.2 feet an hour so I'd say next couple of hours your going to get overspill starting.

Thankfully the dry air is persistent and should keep Harvey in check... a 65 mph storm seems reasonable to me at the upper end, would expect strong tropical storm force winds well to the east of center, surges 3-5 feet probably possible depending on forward speed and overall size of wind field.. Isidore put close to an 7-8 foot surge with winds around 65 mph in Biloxi back in 02.. but I think Izzy had a little bigger wind field and came in directly perpendicular to the GOM coast line...

It has been non stop heavy rain since about 3:00am. Has not stopped once. I am about 20 min N. of Beaumont.

The dry slot has almost reached Houston so the over spill may not last long enough to breach the dam. A lot of neighborhoods in the areas that will have less than a foot of water in their houses will probably decide to stay and get a head start on clean up.

Greg Bostwick just said that we could get an additional 10in tonight on top of what we get today in Beaumont surrounding communities. Unbelievable.

You can go to www.dd6.org and click on their interactive maps under rainfall and see the rain gauges since midnight. It has been anywhere from 3-15 inches depending on where you are. Almost 10" in my area.
