Not to contradict WxMan57 but it really appears as though the "storm" recentered under the convection. I really won't change much but landfall may be sooner than anticipated. Thoughts?

We know where the center should be, but is obviously tilted with a 35 wind speed at sea level

Pretty sure there will be some wind with this as it comes back ashore. Earlier post showed trop storm conditions at Galveston. So those storms that blow up north of the center will probably be very gusty. Along east side of center at landfall may see somewhat stronger trop storm conditions IMO.

Great big center. The edge of that center will reach the coast, but it won't be called a landfall until the middle of that big hole is onshore.

BTW: A 996 with that kind of wind means there could be bit lower pressure with the real center.

It does look that way. The vortex shot northward earlier this morning. It could become the primary center. We'll see. Just noticed you go by "bbadon". First name isn't Ben, is it? If so, PM me.
