This, from the running news ticker at bottom of screen on TWC:
Mayor of Port Arthur: "Our whole city is under water right now."
He asks for people with boats to come help with water rescues.
Yes, Hurricane Andrew, you and the CN are going to be very busy! They will no doubt appreciate your help, as will all those that THEY are helping!

Horrible just horrible, my heart goes out to all those impacted by Harvey.
I fervently hope no more hurricanes make landfall this season. Harvey is more than enough in and of himself.

Rivers will continue to rise this week at least.
Rain is moving north but over areas that already have too much water.

Curfews:
Houston: Midnight to 5am
Mussouri City: 10pm - 6am
Richmond: 8pm to 6 am
Victoria MAY have lited their 10PM to 6AM curfew... but I see conflicting reports on that....
LA Porte curfew is lifted.

Buffalo Bayou the water is steady. If you have water in the street you may be stuck for a long time.
Next conference at 7:30. They only showed last few minutes of it.

Cell towers:
Every one I've ever seen has a building at ground level housing the equipment. These can't possibly be waterproof.
Granted many are placed on hills for better area coverage, but how many of these are flooded? Is there so much redundancy that even with some, or many flooded, there is still sufficient capacity?

I'm not sure if anyone has already posted this or not but this is the second Gulf storm this season that has had a majority of it's convection on it's west side (usually the weaker side) at some point in it's lifetime.

I was supposed to go to the gym tonight, lol, but you know what? This takes precedence. In a year, I would slap myself for missing the chance to be a part of what I believe will go down as the largest volunteer effort in American history.
I am tempted to buy a plane ticket and fly down there to meet up with a boat team, but unless S2K forms a team, I don't think I will.

From what I can find they have been built to withstand the elements, through their housings.

There was a rescue just now on Fox by a National Guard Blackhawk helicopter of a family of four with their dog. In Beaumount.

FWIW, I think you are doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing right now. And it's certainly what a lot of others NEED you to do! If you spent tonight traveling, who would do what you were supposed to have done?

I was wondering the same thing. I took a friend to Dickinson to retrieve some items from his house and check on things, and while I was there waiting with him, there was almost zero cell service. I figured my phone was trying to connect to a tower farther away.
