Honestly, the KPRC coverage is frustrating. They can't get the basic facts straight. This has all been detailed in the press conferences. So either they are clueless or they have discovered the story of the night.

The media is showing headlines of a chemical plant about to explode and them some stock photo of a giant chemical refinery that spans square miles of real estate. Very irresponsible sensationalist reporting.
Anhydrous hydrogen chloride is that I read they were storing there. If that exploded into the air it would be a disaster for the immediate area. Although there are so few details it does seem odd.
The company's website says they produce organic peroxide there...

I was about to post something similar. Something doesn't add up. I understand that the levels of Buffalo have been steady all day.

Now they're saying no breach of the dam. Read email from Harris County Flood Control on the air.

Yes, they are walking it back. Bill said he never said there was a breach but that is not true. About 5-10 mins ago, he said they had gotten reports of water coming through the dam. Before that, he said they saw water going over it.
He sounded panicked there for a awhile but changed his tune fast!!

I've seen it first hand with earthen damn structures. They can be compromised from underneath, when the top looks fine. The water slowly seeps through and erodes it from the inside out. Obviously, they know this as well so I trust that what they're saying is true. But is the Buffalo rising? Did they address that?

Have they figured out where the extra water is coming from?

He sure did. He also said they were "uninformed." Why say anything, then? They're the news and they'll just panic people.
It's really impressive, though. I know people that live there--one is trapped in their subdivision--and it's impressive and sobering to see it from the air.

Don't forget fatigue is going to be an issue at this point, I imagine there will be some mistakes until folks get a good nights sleep!

If you look at the Buffalo in those areas around Dairy Ashford, they've been holding steady for over a day, with some very minor fluctuations.

As I suspected - Bill and Dominique had never seen any of the footage before (I had been wondering where they were, but still), so they basically had an on-air freakout in front of all of us.

Yeah it looks like Rock hasn't posted since the 26th. Does anyone know how conditions were in Kemah?

I'm safe. But it's very trying here. The sounds of helicopters flying over you in the golden triangle were surreal.
Now hearing Toledo Bend/Dam B opening will flood worse than the 2015 episode. Unreal.

Remarkable SST change in the last week due to upwelling and runoff.

Googling "bridge collapse, Vidor Texas" and both "Vidor Texas" and "bridge collapse, Texas" searching new and old, nothing comes up. There was this on August 27 tho: "Texas road bridge has collapsed after being inundated by waters brought on by drenching rains from hurricane Harvey. The collapse happened on Farm to Market Road No. 762 in Rosenberg, a city southwest of Houston."

I heard it was a bridge in Pensacola.
