Remarkable SST change in the last week due to upwelling and runoff.

Dumb question: Is the water along the coast there deep enough/cold enough to be upwelling, or is it just so much convective/cooled water falling in the form of rain that's dropping the temps?

We have not heard much news coverage about Kemah, but I know all of the areas around him flooded pretty bad.
Does anyone have any other means to contact him other than here?

Somebody's getting way too enthusiastic for the death of something that isn't even alive...
Dunno why but I've never really felt the urge to shake my fist at the sky or spray paint "[storm name] Go Away" anywhere. Guess I have trouble getting angry at floodwaters. Mostly just sad. And scared.
(Then again this is coming from someone who personifies storms as a way to cope with things...just in a different way from most other people. I don't really get the characterization of storms as wrathful. Especially hurricanes. If they really were coming to smite us, they wouldn't die over land, you know...)

Although this is 4 days old and I apologize if it was posted back at the time and I'm repeating it, I haven't seen this before today. It's the transition from Harvey remnants to full blown major hurricane in Gulf over 72hrs. Mesmerising and pretty frightening at the same time.

Very terrible for Lumberton, Tx and surrounding areas. We have had constant steady rain since Saturday evening. Freeways with all lanes coming and going are covered with water covering the concrete barriers that separate the lanes going in North, South or East, West in some spots. They literally had white caps in the waves that covered the freeways in certain spots. Look like a lake across the entire freeway. Those freeways are closed coming and going from Lumberton. We are so cutoff. Rescues happening throughout the day. Read today that the release of Dam B up North could cause us problems with water in the up coming days slowing down the rate of water receding. Not sure if this is true. Neighborhoods flooded that have never flooded before. Southerngale I hope everything is ok. A woman in our area got in the flood waters with her three year old in a car and got out. She drowned but her baby was found wrapped around her mother still alive. So sad. Bayous, creeks and streams have flooded the area that has not flooded for more than 30 years.
