Large new eyewall showing up on satellite now. Intensification likely to continue.

I was wondering the same, maybe giving some time for one last pass right before the 5 PM advisory for a more updated information.
Edit, at this point they are too far away to make a pass before 5 PM.

P.S. Sorry I make jokes all the time. I'm not the type to post every few hours about how worried I am.

I know I can't straddle the atmosphere...just a tiny storm in your teacup, girl.

Large increase in Ocean-Heat Content coming up shortly.
IMHO, good chance to ramp to Cat 5.
Going to really start to suck up and store a vast amount of energy.

will definitely be a larger eye.. but that inner eye wall is still producing deep convection.. couple more hours...

The dry air intrusion is over. She has crossed the mid-Atlantic, now entering warmer waters. Nothing holding her back moving forward, except for further EWRCs. Would not surprise me if we're looking at RI this evening.

So, with the earlier increase to Cat 4 than what was forecast, does it make it more likely that poleward steering will occur earlier?

luckily for the islands.. IRMA will likely be going through another ERC as it passes thorugh the islands.

Nope. If anything it would keep it going WSW/W longer.

Did you see the note Steve Donahue posted from Anguilla that this might rival Luis or even worse. Scary. Stay save I know you know the drill but this is a big one.

http://www.stormcarib.com/ has hurricane correspondents from many of the islands . They post ongoing conditions as they can.
The problem is that most of us will probably lose power during the storm and maybe even for days after the storm.

The Sam"s Club on Dunn Ave in JAX was out of water when I was there earlier today. After Matthew last year - and watching Harvey this year - I think folks are taking things seriously and are getting prepared early.

That loops hints that it still has a very minor southerly component...

I lose track of posts here, but I was pretty sure that's what people were saying ... stronger earlier, further SW.

I was thinking more stronger hurricane could mean stronger high so more steering westward instead.

Re: ATL: IRMA - Hurricane - Discussion
the recent and very intense convection builiding with the outer eyewall should be enough to choke off the inner once it closes off.
