WOW, this storm is insane. I am a wreck, my dad is in PR on the south east side. Last time I spoke to him was yesterday afternoon. He isn't answering his phone or texts since then. I don't know if he stayed home by himself (he is 81 years old) or went to stay with family. Prayers for everyone in the path of this storm

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

My grandpa is east of San Juan. Phone lines have been super jammed.

So...175mph in the LFQ...perhaps 180 or 185 in the RFQ?

Also, the satellite presentation is a little less impressive...CDO is largely biased toward SE side, and the eye is somewhat ragged. Perhaps an EWRC is brewing?

Still ultra strong with 152 kt, bit surprised its still that high think the image suggests maybe
some dry-air affecting the western side.

Yeah but it was supporting higher winds without a CDG.

Just imagine if this was in the WPAC. Maybe only a 130 knots STY or 135 knots. Dvorak only at 6.5.

An official preliminary update from the Guadeloupe Prefet regarding St. Barth and St. Martin
https://twitter.com/Prefet971/status/905402277741174785
A rough translation of a few of the points:
St Barth:
Firestation flooded with 1 meter of water. Fire trucks inoperable
Total blackout. Central power station inoperable
St. Martin
Part of the Prefecture (gov't building) where 23 people taking shelter was destroyed - they're in a concrete room.
Police station - reports of roofs torn off

think this is getting a bit of shear this morning. Models were hinting at some weakening in this area for the past couple of days
