Hillsborough County (Tampa and surrounding areas) will make a decision regarding school closures by the end of the day Wednesday (tomorrow).

Pasco County schools may make a decision as early as tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon regarding school closures due to the opening of schools for shelters for local residents as well as those evacuating from other areas of Florida.

FAU has cancelled classes through Sunday. Campus closes on Thursday with dorms remaining open for students at this time.

Bethune-Cookman University has a manditory evacuation.


As a result of Hurricane Irma, all students are MANDATED to evacuate the campus by Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at6:00 pm. For your safety, no students will be allowed to remain in on-campus facilities after this time. If extended time is absolutely needed, please see your Hall Staff for approval. NOTE: Due to this emergency, all extensions may not be approved. Students who do not have an evacuation destination will be transported to available Volusia County shelter sites. All University services, including Dining Services, will be discontinued as of September 6, 2017, at 7:00 pm. Please check the University home page for daily updates regarding University reopening dates and times. To help protect your personal belongings, please complete the following check list prior to leaving your assigned room.

Received an email from our local (Pasco County) EOC last night and they have canceled all garbage pickup (no matter the carrier) effective Friday. If you have commercial pickup they suggested calling your company.

Obviously be sure you secure all cans inside.

This was rescinded until Saturday afternoon for residences.
