It does look much more impressive sadly, and it still has plenty of time over water. What does the NHC say its max is now?

The vortex went 113 for the SFMR. I have just enough doubts to hold the intensity for now to 110 kt.

12AM still has her at 120mph. Given the recent pass through the NE and NW eyewall and the unflagged 113kt SFMR, I believe NHC bumps her up to 125 mph at 931mb.

TwC just said they found the slightly higher wind, and reported the drop to 931. But didn't say whether nhc would officially call it...also just said recon no longer finding 2 eyewalls. Although I don't think that means the double wind maxima is gone

Irma now looks to be moving NNW @ 6mph looked like it took a direct move North per radar.

as I suspected, NHC kept the winds at 105 kts, likely due to flight level winds and flagging

Looks to be moving almost directly north at a good rate. If it hits the keys it will count as another major landfall.

Really is semantics at this point. That water isn't going away and the winds likely won't get any weaker. It's going to be horrible.

Well yes, still 120mph as per NHC. It will be hourly with the NHC tonight and continuous throughout the night with Recon, right?

My vibes and prayers and hope for good common sense is with everyone in Florida tonight. My dads house was 27 ft above sea level in Katrina on the MS coast and was thrown off its slab by surge and totaled.

Everyone be safe, hunker down. Hide from the wind and flee from the water

some here are downplaying the winds far too much. You get cat 4 winds, you are getting destruction regardless as to whether or not you get a surge. See Charley. Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, and Arcadia were leveled despite minimal surge

The 05 next to the 113 KT SFMR means that reading is questionable. Highest non-SFMR flagged reading is 109 KT, which is up from previous passes. Won't take too much for this to regain low-end Category 4 status.
